Pamela Chakuvinga

Pamela Chakuvinga has dedicated her career in advocating sex workers rights in Africa and Globally. With over 10 years of experience, she has worked extensively with sex worker-led organizations, governments, and international partners to promote human rights, health, and wellbeing. Pamela contributed to the sex work sector on the sex work issues and realise that South Africa is ahead in making a lot of progress regarding addressing sex work issues in Africa. She has given an opportunity by AIDSFONDS to work as a community consultant and expert on movement building and organisational development for sex worker-led groups and support the development of various sex worker-led groups in the southern African region. She is a mastermind in police training as she was involved in the initial research on violence perpetrated by law enforcement against sex workers and advocating for police training in the Southern Africa region. She is an experience Dignity Diversity Policing trainer in South Africa and also involved in upscaling the training to Angola, Eswatini, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Pamela has already been engaged with police from 16 southern African countries through SARPCCO and has demonstrated exceptional competences and skills to work with police officers at country and regional level.

Pamela Chakuvinga currently serves as Regional Capacity Development Officer at the Southern Africa Sex Workers Alliance (SASWA), where she provides technical assistance, capacity building, and policy guidance to member organizations. Her expertise spans:

– Gender Based Violence prevention and response strategies

– Policy advocacy and reform

– Community mobilization and engagement

– Organizational development and capacity building

Through her work, Pamela Chakuvinga has contributed significantly to regional initiatives addressing Gender Based Violence and Femicide, including the development of national policies and guidelines. Pamela has experience working with civil society organisations at a national, regional and global level on the issues of sex workers, LGBTIQ and people who use drugs. She is a passionate champion for the rights and empowerment of marginalized communities, particularly sex workers.
