Bimala Malla Thakuri

Bimala Malla Thakuriis a female sex worker activist. She is the current National president of Jagriti Mahila Maha Sangh JMMS, an umbrella body of 33 sex workers network organization of Nepal. She has intensive experience on reviewing application during her tenure as a president of JMMS. She began her career as a social activist for the defense of work rights and human rights of sex worker in 2001 from AMDA (Asian Medical Doctors Association) Nepal.

She has over 21 years of experience on working with many people belongs to FSW, LGBTIQ, PLHIV, IDUs, Dance bar girl, hotel cabin girl, and other minority groups. She formed a CBO ie. Mahila Sahayogi Samuha (MSS) in 2008 to raise a voice of FSW. She is also the founder and executive director of Mahila Sahayogi Samuha (MSS) Nepal, the provincial sex workers Network in Province one of Nepal.

She is advocating the Government body, elected representatives of local government, policy makers, EDPs and collaborating with different like minded stakeholders to challenge the criminalization. She supports to strengthen the capacity of female sex workers on their fundamental health and legal rights.

She is continuously fighting against stigma & decriminalization of FSWs (female sex workers) on a daily basis.
