In the 10 years since our launch in 2012, Red Umbrella Fund has given 279 grants to 180 organisations in 68 countries. Every year we share our list of grants including the names of the grantee-partner organisations that request to be published on our website. Organisations that wish to stay anonymous do not have their name or country publicly available. Please contact us if you would like to contact any of our former-grantees or discuss their work.
In 2022 Red Umbrella Fund’s PAC awarded €1,300,000 – our first time giving more than a million in a single year – bringing total grants to €7,886,500!

It provides a safe space for sex workers where it offers health information and documents cases of violence which it brings to police and court. Through radio shows the group aims to promote its work and educate the public about human rights.

Hommes pour les Droits et la Santé Sexuelle (HODSAS)Democratic Republic of the Congo National French HODSAS is an organisation for sex workers operating in the Democratic Republic of Congo. HODSAS supports its members in managing their health. With this grant, HODSAS will organise trainings on sexual health and rights, distribute sanitary pads and organise radio shows on sexual health and rights and family planning in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Organización de Trabajadoras Nocturnas Bolivia (OTN-B)
Organización de Trabajadoras Nocturnas Bolivia (OTN-B)Bolivia National Spanish With over 17,000 members across the nine departments of Bolivia, this sex worker-led organisation works to end stigma and discrimination against sex workers. Created in 2000, this group unites diverse sex workers of all genders and sexual orientations and includes indigenous sex workers. With this grant, OTN-B will set up a telephone hotline to support sex workers facing violence. The group will organise departmental and national convenings of sex workers to strengthen community engagement and build advocacy capacity in support of a new law to regulate sex work in Bolivia.

Organización Nacional de Activistas por la Emancipacion de la Mujer (ONAEM)Bolivia Subnational, National Spanish This national sex worker-led group builds the sex workers’ movement in Bolivia by providing capacity building opportunities for its members. ONAEM builds alliances with the related movements, including the feminist and LGBTQI+ movements in the country, to more effectively promote sex workers’ rights. By educating public health service providers about sex work and human rights, ONAEM contributes to improving the quality of services and reducing the level of stigma and discrimination experienced by sex workers. ONAEM coordinates its work at the regional level through the regional sex workers network RedTraSex. Learn more

UMANDE
UMANDEDemocratic Republic of the Congo Local French Created in 2010, UMANDE works through solidarity committees gathering information from different provinces of the Democratic Republic of Congo and organises capacity building and advocacy activities. With this grant, UMANDE will organise trainings on financial skills for sex workers, support sex workers living with HIV in continuing their treatment and develop materials to increase sex worker visibility.
