SWANS’ core activity is a drop-in centre in Sudbury, which offers capacity building opportunities to sex workers through a peer education model on legal, health, economic, and personal issues, while also offering direct psychosocial support and health services. Sex Workers Educating & Empowering Texans (SWEET)Sex Workers Educating & Empowering Texans (SWEET)United States Local English SWEET was created in the year 2018 in response to SESTA-FOSTA (Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act and Fight Online Sex Trafficking Act) by trafficked survivors and sex workers to advocate for decriminalization, offer financial aid, and provide peer support. SWEET’s offers, mutual aid cash grants, safer sex supplies, emergency contraception, and resource brokering to connect its members with trauma-informed services. The organisation has been able to do a lot of activities without a full-time staff. With this grant, SWEET aims to train up to 30 sex workers in Texas on harm reduction practices to address various concerns related to social wellbeing and physical/mental health, including safer sex and STI / HIV / pregnancy prevention, abortion access and reproductive health information, safer drug use and overdose prevention, first aid, legal defence / Know Your Rights, self-defence, and other similar topics.

SASWA currently has a membership of 20 sex worker-led organisations from 8 countries in the region. SASWA is developing and establishing itself as an alliance in the region by ensuring that the voice of a young sex worker-(above 18 years old) is respected, visible and heard, hence striving to empower young sex workers in their diversity through the regional young sex workers advisory group. With Red Umbrella Fund support, the organisation is looking forward to rolling out its 5-year strategic plan, developing a monitoring and evaluation framework and rolling out its capacity-building plan.

SWOP Ambassadors advocate for legal and healthcare reforms while promoting financial independence in a context where sex work remains criminalized. With the support of the Red Umbrella Fund, aims to continue its violence response efforts and legal follow-ups for sex workers who have been violated. The organisation will also conduct monthly mental health sessions to support its community members.

The anti-rights movement in Morocco has escalated their opposition by threatening legal action against the members and leaders and this has resulted in leaders leaving the country for their security to seek asylum. It will conduct a need assessment survey to collect data on the needs and challenges faced by sex workers in the MENA region and develop an action plan to address these issues. Talayan is the first organisation supported by Red Umbrella Fund in the Middle East and North Africa region!
