SWASH is a 25-year-old organisation advocating for the rights of sex workers of all genders in Japan. Initially founded to address a gap in HIV/STI outreach, the organisation has since then carried out a number of community-led research projects across the country, especially among migrant sex workers, and advocates to fight criminalisation, stigma and discrimination through community empowerment, international alliance-building, online campaigns, political lobbying and innovative artivism strategies.
