The ASTRAEA LESBIAN FOUNDATION FOR JUSTICE is the only philanthropic organisation working exclusively to advance LGBTQI human rights around the globe. We support brilliant and brave grantee partners in the U.S and internationally who challenge oppression and seed change. We work for racial, economic, social, and gender justice, because we all deserve to live our lives freely, without fear, and with dignity.

Association for Women’s Rights in Development (AWID) is a global, feminist, membership, movement-support organisation working to achieve gender justice and women’s human rights worldwide.

“CREA is a feminist international human rights organization based in the Global South and led by women from the Global South. CREA’s work draws upon the inherent value of a rights-based approach to sexuality and gender equality. CREA promotes, protects, and advances human rights and the sexual rights of all people by building leadership capacities of activists and allies; strengthening organizations and social movements; creating and increasing access to new information, knowledge, and resources; and enabling supportive social and policy environments. Many resources are also in Bengali, Hindi, and Nepali. “

Dreilinden supports people whos sexual orientation, gender identity and expression and sex characteristics do not conform with social norms as well as women and girls. Dreilinden shares their vision of a life free from gender-based discrimination and violence – a life that makes sense for them in their diverse social contexts by means of grants to existing organizations and project grants, as well as by social investments, and networking.

We have built a pioneering methodology based on meritocracy where women’s groups and organizations use pseudonyms when submitting their proposals. We aim at brake a culture of favoritism and to ensure transparency. All groups and organizations selected participate in capacity building and dialogue meetings that promote knowledge and encourage the creation of joint strategies so its impact goes further.”””

Equality Fund robustly resources women’s rights organizations and feminist movements worldwide by partnering with organizations, coalitions, and networks focused on building power with women, girls, and trans people, especially in the Global South.

Fondo de Acción Urgente (FAU-AL) is “a regional feminist fund for Latin America and the spanish speaking Caribbean, which contributes to the sustainability and strengthening of activists and their movements, with quick and agile support in situations of risk and opportunity. We support the resistances, struggles and demands of the defenders in the transformation of injustice and inequality systems, putting feminist integral protection and care in the center” They are apart of the Urgent Action Fund global consortium and provides rapid response grants.

“Fondo Semillas is a non-profit feminist organization focused on improving women’s and trans* people lives in Mexico. We dream of a country where all women, indigenous, mestiza, black, young, migrant, heterosexual, lesbian, mothers, and students alike, can make their own decisions and have access to health services, education, a decent job, justice, and happiness.

To achieve this, Fondo Semillas:
* Mobilizes resources from institutional, corporate and individual donors, both in México and abroad.
* Works together with groups and organizations, providing them with financial resources, strengthening their capacities, and connecting them with other organizations, networks, and movements.
* Promotes and disseminates themes of the feminist agenda.
* Seeks to help organizations to carry out their work freely and safely, with a feminist perspective, even during emergencies.
* Establishes horizontal relationships with donors in order to achieve redistributive justice.”

FRIDA provides young feminist organizers with the resources they need to amplify their voices and bring attention to the social justice issues they care about. We enable the support, flexibility and networks to sustain young feminist visions.

Global Fund for Women offers “flexible feminist funding and support to fuel collective action and create meaningful change that will last beyond our lifetimes.Over the course of 30+ years, Global Fund for Women has supported feminist movements and grassroots organizers to end civil wars, get female Presidents elected, and secure laws giving new protection to millions. Today, building on historic wins and the latest research, we are doubling down on supporting movements. By shifting towards a movement-led approach, Global Fund for Women will harness and fuel rising people-power globally to increase their impact and accelerate change.” Information about their grantmaking is available on their website.

Founded in 2004, HER Fund mobilizes resources for women’s empowerment, the promotion of social changes and gender equality. “We support the most vulnerable women and girls in Hong Kong by providing capacity-building, leadership training and small grants to grassroots organizations led by and serving the most disadvantaged. We also increase the visibility of marginalized women and girls—and the issues they face.” Informal groups based in Hong Kong may apply with a registered organisation. There is significant accompaniment available through the organisation to support the applications process. 

“The Human Capability Foundation (HCF) is a grant-making foundation based in the UK. Founded in 2011, we support organisations working for the rights of marginalised communities.
The Foundation’s primary focus is in India and on the issues of: Women’s Education and Empowerment; Youth Education; Mental Health & Disability Rights; Labour; and Migration. ​The HCF seeks to build long-term funding relationships with NGOs (non-governmental organisations) and CBOs (community-based organisations).”

“JASS is a feminist movement support organization. In this movement moment, when people across the world are rising up against inequality, violence, planetary destruction and corruption, it is not a surprise that women – those most impacted by these crises – are also at the forefront demanding change.
But mobilizations can fade away. Real change takes time.
JASS equips community-based women activists to organize effectively and support feminist movement leadership to turn outrage and grief into lasting change. We offer tools, training, knowledge and on-going accompaniment to women and their organizations so they can build and sustain resilient and powerful movements. We build bridges, open doors and stand in solidarity with them to challenge and change the policies, practices, structures and norms that perpetuate injustice.”

Mama Cash is the host organisation for Red Umbrella Fund and in 2021 became the largest participatory grantmaker. “Courageous women’s, girls’, trans and intersex people’s human rights organisations worldwide need funding and supportive networks in order to grow and transform their communities. Mama Cash mobilises resources from individuals and institutions, makes grants to these self-led, feminist organisations, and helps to build the partnerships and networks needed to successfully defend and advance women’s, girls’, trans and intersex people’s human rights globally.”

The Numun Fund is “a feminist technology response during COVID-19. It aims to support feminist groups, organizations and networks led by women, non-binary and trans people who use technology to advance feminist organizing and gender-just outcomes.” Feminist groups, organizations and networks led by women, non-binary and trans people are eligible to apply to Numun Fund.
