\nE-mail the completed self-nomination<\/a> form<\/b> together with a support letter from a sex worker-led organisation <\/b><\/u>to: info@redumbrellafund.org<\/a> by 21 October 2022.<\/b><\/u><\/p>\n

Who can apply?<\/i><\/span>
\nRed Umbrella Fund is looking for two committed sex workers\u2019 rights activists who identify as current or former sex workers and are part of a sex worker-led organisation based in:
\n\u2022 Africa (from an English-speaking country),
\n\u2022 Asia and the Pacific (from East and Southeast Asia and the Pacific).<\/p>\n

Important:<\/i><\/span>
\n\u2022 ISC membership is voluntary, unpaid and requires a high level of commitment. ISC members must be able to volunteer several hours per week for ISC discussions and responsibilities at different times of the year.
\n\u2022 Candidates must be interested and available to commit to actively participate in the ISC for at least three years. Membership can be renewed once for another three years.
\n\u2022 ISC members must have regular e-mail access and availability to attend ISC meetings (by phone, WhatsApp or Skype) and at least one international meeting per year.<\/p>\n

What do we offer?<\/i><\/span>
\n\u2022 A unique opportunity to contribute to the only global funder led by the community that specifically focuses on supporting the sex workers\u2019 rights movements!
\n\u2022 Direct contact with peer sex workers\u2019 rights activists and allied funders.
\n\u2022 Translation support in ISC members for up to three languages.
\n\u2022 ISC membership is a voluntary (unpaid) position but costs of participating in meetings are covered.<\/p>\n

About Red Umbrella Fund<\/b><\/span><\/span>
\nRed Umbrella Fund is the first and only global fund by and for sex workers. We publish one Call for Applications each year. Since 2012, Red Umbrella Fund has made 217 grants to sex worker-led groups and networks representing a total of 5,350,000 EUR.<\/p>\n

Who makes what decisions?<\/i><\/span>
\nRed Umbrella Fund is guided by an International Steering Committee (ISC) made up of sex workers and donors. The ISC decides the grantmaking criteria, approves the annual budget and makes other strategic decisions. The Programme Advisory Committee (PAC) advises the ISC about which new grants to make. Day-to-day work is done by a small Secretariat team of five staff.<\/p>\n

Who are on the ISC?<\/i><\/span><\/span>
\nISC members are sex worker activists (always the majority) and representatives of selected donors to the Red Umbrella Fund. It has up to 11 members from different parts of the world. The ISC strives for diversity in its membership including in relation to geography, language, gender, areas of expertise, and affiliations.<\/p>\n

What do ISC members do? <\/i><\/span><\/span>
\nThe International Steering Committee (ISC) is responsible for the key strategic and programmatic decisions of Red Umbrella Fund. While its members come from different parts of the world, all ISC members are expected to keep the global perspective of Red Umbrella Fund at the forefront of their decision making.
\nAmongst others, ISC members:
\n\u2022 Establish and affirm the grantmaking criteria and priorities of Red Umbrella Fund, including overall geographic, thematic, and sub-population priorities.
\n\u2022 Approve Red Umbrella Fund\u2019s annual plan and budget.
\n\u2022 Assist in resource development activities.
\n\u2022 Ensure that Red Umbrella Fund\u2019s advocacy work does not go beyond the vision and mission of Red Umbrella Fund.<\/p>\n
